Semenggoh Wildlife Centre

Labor Day Outing; Visited Semenggoh Wildlife Centre on 1st of May 2007. It located about 10 miles from Kuching city, near to Padawan Town. The entrance fee is RM3.00 per adult. We were lucky to meet Richie, the oldest and biggest 'orang utan' at the centre. He was having his breakfast at the time we arrived. Together with 'it', were another 3 'family members'.

After the photo session, we proceed to the feeding platform in the jungle, lead by the park ranger. It was about 15 minutes walking distance. There were about 30 people, among us have white, yellow, black and some mixture of these color. All of us were egar to see how the ranger feed the 'wild' orang utan. After waiting for 30, 40, 50... minutes, people started to grumble.

Two types of comment were observed;
1) The rehabilitation programme here is very successful. All those 'orang utans' are capable to find food by themself. They are ready to join their 'friends' back in the wild again.
2) "where is d olang utan?". "spend money to wait kah". "got cheated. where got orang utan"

We retreated after an hour of waiting in the jungle and left the centre after the rain stopped. We stopped by the pitcher plant garden and spent 1.5 hours there.
